I was actually making fun of the fact that of all things THIS e-mail is timely and we don't need it since we already know what to do but the stuff we need to be on time gets delayed.
My apologies, I guess it was taken out of context.

Oh, I know you weren't being offensive, more like trying to be "funny" or something like that. No bad blood.

I wonder how things went down back then...

Yes, I was here.
Jokes apart, Britney was, obviously, attacked for trying to capitalize on the kiss by getting Madonna to collab on the song (while Madonna was called desperate by her fans for working with someone "inferior" like Britney), and when MATM flopped in the US, the haters (Aggie and Beyoncé fans, mostly) all celebrated. It was a big hit overseas though, a 4-weeks-#1, so we ended up winning in the end.
Britney was also said to be "stiff" - Yeah, imagine that - during the Toxic NRJ Awards performance, and also criticized for not having her Slave 4 U belly anymore. Also, obviously, there was the whole lip-sync mess.
The album was also considered to be a "failure" for not selling over 700k like 'Britney' and going down the Top 10 faster than her previous releases.
In other words, nothing new, my friend. Britney's being trashed and attacked ever since she was born, which nothing but confirms it's all jealousy. The difference is back then she would still deliver and make the fans happy by pushing her quality singles as much as she could
- or could be forced to? - and looking hot as hell. Thank God we now have quality music and hotness again... The only thing missing is the will to make the singles succeed, which I honestly don't expect to make a comeback at this point, so let's just enjoy what we have, which is much, MUCH better than we have been dealing with for the past 7 years.
