I've thought about it, and I don't agree. For centuries, women in this country have had the expectations to be chaste and "pure" while having their bodies sexualized to the nth degree. And now, we have women who are recognizing these thought patterns and giving them the middle finger, because they understand the hypocrisy and absurdity of it all. And it's not like they're "****s." Bey, Miley, Kim etc are all in long term relationships, they're just taking ownership over their bodies in ways that people would look down on them for before. I think it's completely pragmatic and I don't fault them at all for revealing themselves in ways that some may find lewd. It's 2016 and these issues are passé.

Where you're wrong is assuming that the lack of overt-sexuality would be adhering to past expectations of being chaste or pure though. Now race is coming into the equation through Bey and gender through Miley, but still through the filter of
sex. IS that bad? Is that an issue? This woman seems to think so. Ive grown up with it, I dont care. But ultimately, I do agree that what would be
more interesting,
more progressive, and certainly
more left field, is a
lack of sexual brashness for the sake of sexual brashness. Not for the sake of being chaste or "pure". Using overt sexuality as exploitation-meets-empowerment is also passé, to play devils advocate. Thats the point im getting at. For a few decades now its always the same narrative, partially yes because its relevant, and im for it. Im not against overt sexuality. But my point being, why cant there be other aesthetics now? Why not? And why does it always have to be the same defense when someone acknowledges that? Im not condemning anyone, I like them both, Im just saying I get the point behind these statements and I think its something that maybe you should delve further into rather than just writing it off as a dated conservative viewpoint because I think thats just you being shallow and narrow-minded on the opposite end of the spectrum.
