What are some funny misconceptions you had as a child?
This is so stupid, but the first time I heard about what "rape" was I misheard it as "rake" and I thought it was when you attacked someone with a rake.
I didn't know "bed bugs" were actually real. I just thought it was some folk tale parents would tell their kids like the tooth fairy or the sandman or the boogeyman I believed this up until I was 13 or 14 years old when some kid came to school and one supposedly crawled out of her book
I honestly don't remember ever thinking anything weird like that when I was younger. My 10 year old brother, however, thinks that everything played on TV is live.
since old photos were always in black and white i used to think the world was once in black and white. i remember asking my mom when everything changed to color. i was around like maybe 4 or 5? idk. whenever i could like speak speak.
I used to think everything used to be in black and white. And honestly I still kind of do. Like I know it wasn't, obviously. But whenever I think of like the Great Depression, it's always in black and white. It's just so hard to imagine the early 1900's in colour for some reason.
I had no clue what a vagina was, like I knew there was a difference in genitalia between me and my female friends but I didn't really "get" it, I assumed they had like a belly button type thing down there that they pee'd out of
I used to think that everyone on TV died the moment you switched off the TV
Mom dad used to think I was just addicted to TV but I was really crying when they used to close it because I thought I was responsible
I also used to think that cats were girls, dogs were men. The cartoon CatDog was educational for me in a few ways
I thought cats were girls and dogs were men too, lol it just still seems that way

My mom loves watching black and white movies so I watched them with her. I always thought that people saw in black and white back then. I just couldnt understand that people saw colors and just the cameras couldnt pick them up
