Politico: Clinton expected to announce VP pick Friday

Who is it gonna be?

The guy on Chelsea's Netflix show already said there was no plans on it being Elizabeth because Hillary would be overshadowed

The interesting thing about Hillary is that her VP choice is going to be relatively irrelevant.

Vice Presidents typically fall under three categories: Augusts, Novembers, and Januarys.

An August is a VP that will help consolidate the party during the convention. The November is one that will help you win the election. A January is one that doesn't help you at all for the election but will be there because they're good at governance.

She clearly doesn't need an August because she effectively has the nomination. That's what Warren falls under. Warren's greatest asset to Hillary is her ability to unite the party for the convention.

The thing is the party is already pretty much united. The disaffected Sanders supporters were never going to vote for Hillary anyway. Compared to the Obama statistics, a significantly higher portion are in support of Hillary. Things are going to be OK.

Hillary certainly does not need a January because she's pretty much one of the most qualified people to run for the presidency in terms of credentials. There's no Dick Cheney to her Bush, so to speak.

What's left is a potential November. Hillary is already pretty much polling ahead of Trump in many swing states so there's not much danger of her losing there as long as momentum keeps going.

Picking a VP that is tied to a swing state gives her a better chance of winning one.

The only prominent VP choice with that quality is Tim Kaine from Virginia. Even then, that's 13 electoral votes total. It's not an insignificant number but Hillary is pretty much polling consistently ahead of Trump.

So ... all in all... the VP choice for Hillary is pretty much irrelevant.

I feel it's gonna be Julian Castro.

If Hillary believes that Warren is the right pick, she will pick her, it's as simple as that.

Though I'm hoping for Warren, if it's not her, I hope it's Hickenlooper, and if it's not him, I'm hoping for Becerra.

He would be near the top of my list, but seeing as Christie would get to fill his seat with a republican who would serve out the rest of his term until January 2021, Hillary would never pick him. But Cory has a very bright future, I actually think that he'll be president someday, he's only 47.

Not gonna happen, unless it's Castro, who is too inexperienced. Booker isn't viable because we'd lose his senate seat for 4 years.

i don't want Warren as VP...put her in the cabinet...but she needs to pick someone else

It'll prob. be Kaine but I'd like Booker, Brown, or Warren for it.

I can see it too, but that opportunity feels so far away considering it's almost a guarantee that a Republican will replace Hills.

I honestly think Warren is going to be picked for the position, hopefully I'm not wrong.

Hillary's biggest weakness is that she isn't a populist and she's in the middle of a pro-populist election cycle. The only option that she's vetted that could patch that up is Elizabeth. Literally nothing Tim Kaine brings to the ticket is going to help her. It's going to piss off members of the progressive left because they'd see it as her pivoting to the center (right) in response to picking a centrist (which wouldn't be unwarranted). Aside from maybe picking up a few moderate Republicans up, she's not going to net gain as many voters as she would from attracting more populist, progressive voters. Also, Hillary (while I love her to death) is boring as hell to the general public, and that's another great weakness of hers. Warren would fix that up very quickly. No other option at the moment could solve that issue, and if Warren manages to steal attention away from Hillary and her email scandal, then GREAT. Let it happen.

Also, I really hope she doesn't pick Hickenlooper. Call me superficial, but Clinton-Hickenlooper sounds god awful as a ticket.

They're wrong. The vetting process for VPs began a while before Sanders came out and endorsed her. There's little reason to believe that a 74 year old (not to be ageist) that had a very rough and harsh campaign against Hillary Clinton is going to be chosen as her VP.

Those people clearly haven't been following the election.
