Why would they be dragged? Why would black people be dragged for bleaching? All they're trying to do is fit in with the racist beauty standards which favours lighter skin.. It's upsetting that they feel it's necessary if anything, not something to drag anyone over.

Everyone can do whatever they want, leave them alone with whatever makes them happy.

I'm 99% sure people are very critical of the skin bleaching industry in Asia which contributes to a vicious cycle of colorism

From what I've noticed, there is a lot of historical significance behind most Asian countries' obsession with lighter skin. "Tanned" Asians are usually mocked and called 'dark' and often times, skin bleaching is advised. Don't wanna be out here looking like a field worker. On the other end of the spectrum, black people take great pride in our skin color... also from historical significance... hence the different reactions. It's interesting.

Maybe because they are already quite pale to begin with, its not like they are making there skin an unnatural colour.

Because Asians think a darker skin tone implies that you're from the farm/construction sites and belong to the lower class. It has nothing to do with race.

I don't get the obsession people have with people bleaching their skin, I mean I get it, but rather than dragging the people who bleached their skin why not drag/change the culture that caused them to do it? It's not like people suddenly wake up one morning and decide to be insecure about their darker skin tones.

It's only an Asian women thing and completely has nothing to do with race tbh.

Interesting. That mentality, that associates lighter skin with richness, was the same European people had till mid 20th century, before tanning crazes started.

probably because they aren't dark to begin with and the products they use are not dangerous unlike the stuff sold in Jamaica and africa, and it's also seen as a social status symbol instead of self hating.

Because most of the skin bleaching happens over in Asia and for the most part the west doesn't give two ***** about what happens over there

I don't know I've always embraced my tan skin (although it's still considered as dark here any shade from beige and below is dark for the people tbh). But yeah most Asians still think being light skinned is the standard of beauty.

I've even heard a term 'black beauty' and that's just for being brown skinned.

Tho in contrast, I've heard comments like: "she/he is just light skinned. See if she gets darker she won't look that pretty/handsome."
