Yet Applause will have sold more first-week than either of these songs will. Till now both songs have sold about 40-45k copies.
It kinda is, but more like Applause vs. Work Bitch. I don't expect either song to do very well. I think either song will beat Applause's impressive 9-10 consecutive weeks in the top 10 of iTunes. Hell, I think Applause will have lasted 20 to 30 times longer in the Top 10 than Make Me will, even though Applause was released during a way more competitive time.
Katy is the "Gaga" in this situation and she didn't get a backfire since she is #1 and her lead is growing.
