I honestly do think they've been the only ones that can be called supermodels since Gisele. All the successful ones after Gisele and before Gigi and Kendall have all been top models but weren't supermodels. Both supermodels and top models (ex. of top models are the likes of Gemma Ward, Natasha Poly, Jessica Stam, Joan Smalls, Fei Fei Sun, Natalia Vodianova, Karen Elson, etc.) have charmed the fashion industry and are fronting blue-chip magazine covers and ad campaigns but what sets the supermodels apart from the top models is the supermodels' command of the media. Back then, Naomi, Linda, Kate, Christy, etc were household names not only in the fashion industry but also with the GP. Everyone knew them by their first names. That's something the 2000s models lack and Kendall and Gigi brought back. So regardless of their connections and the reasons for their success, in the essence, they are the supermodels of our generation.
