Ugh, so this is why the servers are down. They could've waited longer and fixed the tracking and gym glitches first.

Got the same issue. Finally got it downloaded, but the servers are down.

Um. Yeah that won't work very well.
If you have a poke stop that you can reach from your home it will work somewhat, but you catch a lot more Pokemon walking around.
