IDK I just think she doesn't really have an identity to the public which is why she's not really clicking. You don't have to have a #1 single and #1 album to CLICK, but you just have to make sense to the GP and people outside of ATRL etc... just see her as the 2 On chick.
This song is by no means horrible and personally I like it more than "Player", but she really needs to sit down and figure out what she wants to achieve as an artist. It's been said multiple times that her and her team want her to be as big as Rihanna playing the Pop/Urban field, but even Rihanna had something special about her and that was the Island touch and that's what makes Rihanna Rihanna. What REALLY makes Tinashe Tinashe?
I commend her hard work though. She will eventually happen just because she literally pushes herself 24/7 even when there's not a label there doing that work.

what make Tinashe is her artistry and performing talent. Her music is free and will and doesn't feet in one box. Her writing, her style, and most importantly the type of music she make in her mixtape. Tinashe is progressive R&B girl that can performed her ass of on stage. She should not lose her formula, she should just expanded it and be better and everyone else will catch on. She need to be patient. Just over two years her fanbase has increase exponentially and due time she will have stable fanbase and she can be successful in one lane/way.
Although I've said it before, I think Tinashe would excel well at Afrobeats/Afropop type of music. She's half-African too which she also embraces. Team her up with someone like Fuse ODG who is a British Afrobeats artist from Ghana and has had success in the UK, they both would be able to make great African-inspired music together.
It's not an oversaturated genre in the Mainstream so Tinashe would be easily be able to carve a niche there. Get her to work with Timbaland also (although she has already done) and he can produce a track like Grown Woman by Beyonce which he produced. Or even Major Lazer etc.
This is very Ciara but it's still very good and could finally be her radio break. I don't know how excited this makes me for her album though. Aquarius was great but she's tried so many things at this point (most of which haven't worked imo) that everything I hear from her just sounds like good karaoke. What is Tinashe's sound even supposed to be nothing sounds genuine for her anymore.
Her past track record before this album campaign was good though so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Also the cover to this is amazing.
I think it's a grower honestly. If radio get behind it, she could have a nice hit on her hands. Saying that it's a little late for a summer grower with US radio.
Hopefully the video will be more typical T. She should work with MNEK or something. That would have been outta this world.
