Video Games: Did you expect Pokémon GO to be this successful?

Most of my friends said that it would flop, because Pokémon had peaked long ago already. But Pokémon GO is now officially the most downloaded mobile game in history and made Pokémon repeak. The whole world knows about Pokémon GO and everyone is enjoying the game. When you guys saw the first trailer (released 10 months ago, where they all try to catch Mewtwo at the end of the trailer, which I definitely can see happening in real life as well now) did you expect Pokémon GO to slay this hard? Is Pokémon GO the new main pop girl since Lady Gaga and Katy Perry? Is Pokémon GO the one who will finally dethrone Madonna as the queen of pop? Are our fave's careers even safe at this point? Is she the new Adele? Discuss!

I kind of expected Pokemon Go to attract attention since it's a well-known franchise. But the impact of the game has far exceeded my expectations. I hear people talking about it everywhere and it's not even officially released in Canada yet.

I didn't even know something like this is going to be released, it just appeared one day on my instagram feed and everyone was playing it minutes later.

I had some work in the city yesterday and I was texting friend about what happened and a boy looked at me and asked me if I'm playing it too and he looked so excited

You can't even get it officially here and yet everyone has it.

Not at all. I expected it to be like any of those other side games the fandom collectively rolls it's eyes at while waiting for info on the new main series games. Not it PUNCHING sun & moon out of my mind, like idec about them (for the moment

No, I don't think anyone expected this impact and success. Even my flop friends in real life have downloaded the app illegally.

Yes. Like two years ago Nintendo did this thing for a day with Google maps where you could catch Pokemon for a day. It was a smash before it was even invented.
