The last few Digimon games for PSP & PS Vita have slayed, and the Digimon Anime is still getting awards.
Not to mention, Digimon was given primetime slots, causing popular shows like Avatar, to be pushed aside.

Digimon wouldn't sink low, to change what Digimon is to fit into Pokemon Go's structure.
Digimon is already slaying game wise.

Pokemon Sun & Moon has finally caught up to Digimon and is now more like how the Digimon games are now.
Not to mention Pokemon can now evolve like Digimon.

Yes. I think because Pokemon has more nostalgia charm. I played the Vita game, but only sunk 6 hours into before I got bored. It was a good game, it had a mature plot and fun gameplay putting Pokemon to shame, but I just couldn't get invested on it. Meanwhile, I've put 120~ on Alpha Sapphire for the sake of catching them all, even though there was nothing to do once you finished it, not to mention it's tragic plot, characters and easy difficulty
The game would be miles ahead of Pokemon tho.

No. It wouldn't "flop" but it wouldn't be even 25% as successful as Pokemon GO. If it was free, it would probably do decent, but Pokemon GO is a phenomenon. Digimon could only wish for that success.

I can only think of Doraemon. I know one looks like a white Simba with mittens and there's a cactus with boxing gloves.

If Digimon is trash, than Pokemon is sewerage.

Digimon is smarter and more sophisticated than Pokemon. The only thing Pokemon has on Digimon is popularity.

Pokemon smashed because it was cute, dumbed down (for anime standards) and had an easy concept. It's a great franchise, but it's simple in every meaning of the word.

I can understand not liking Digimon, but calling it trash in comparison to Pokemon, only insults Pokemon further.

Well in the anime you would think there are only a few. But they also showed up in games and cards and whatever.
