She was taken too soon for sure. R.I.P.
But I think it is just a guessing game, the game/industry changed so much since she passed that it is hard too tell whether she would have been still a force. Her career could have gone various different paths, both positive as negative.
She was already huge in the r&b world, but with AYTS and much more so with Try Again, she was on the cusp of a MAJOR global crossover, as well as a brand upgrade and extension (actress and model)
We'll never know...
All I can say is that she would have delivered so many amazing songs and visuals
"Aaliyah" was already her best album yet so she would have created even greater work. I would have pictured her creating albums like a mix of "Loose" & "Back To Black".
If Aaliyah was alive, Beyoncé would STILL be what she is today and she would STILL have a career contrary to what Aaliyah stans always say about Beyoncé.
Yes I believe she would. She would have been a successful crossover artist as well, between music and films and even mixing the two. She was already well on her way of doing that before her tragic death.
Yes. Aaliyah was her best album and she seemed right on the precipice of exploding before she died. I think she would have been a permanent chart fixture through the 00s.

Anyway.. no, I do not believe so. There were many successful, popular R&B girls in the 90s and Aaliyah was one of them.
There's about a handful, perhaps even less, of them still active today.
Many of her R&B contemporaries from the late 90s/early 00s never showed the promise she displayed on Aaliyah though and lacked her crossover appeal.
I honestly think that people here would put her against Rihanna and Drake would be behind her
I think she would side more to the film industry eventually.
I don't think the Brandy comparison is very valid just because they came from the same period. Aaliyah had greater crossover appeal and would have well-suited for becoming a bigger star with what was happening in popular music through the 00s. You guys are forgetting that artists like Rihanna and Ciara emerged after her death.
I certainly think she'd be a little better off than her comtemporaries. She had 6 movie deals coming up, including the two Matrix sequels and Honey. All that with an album in 2005 would have led to her being around longer than the other two, imo.
