I gave this several listens today, and I think what best describes the album is "intriguing". It's certainly much less accessible than Hairless Toys, none of the songs have conventional structures, and most of them actually sound like several songs in one.
One listen definitely isn't enough to absorb it all, and while it's a challenging record, it's all the more rewarding. For some strange reason, Nervous Sleep is one of my personal faves, the title perfectly encapsulates everything that's going on in it - it's basicaly structureless, with various themes and ideas popping up throughout. Someone on PopJustice said it's like a "darker version of House of Glass" and that's really the best way to describe it.
The instrumental break in the middle of Thoughts Wasted is also one of the best moments of the album. Lip Service is the most poppy sounding, so peope looking for "bops" might want to check out that one. The only "dud" is Sitting and Counting imo, which sounds like Whatever pt. 2, just less interesting.
I'm not sure yet if it tops HT, but it's definitely one amazing album.

Well done, Róisín!
