Balón de Oro is an annual Mexican awards ceremony by the Mexican Federation of Association Football to the best association football players, head coaches, and referees of the Liga MX each season.
Gignac, who currently plays for Liga MX club Tigres UANL, was awarded the Balón de Oro for Best Football Player. He couldn't attend the ceremony because he's currently with France looking to win the 2016 Euro title, but he sent a special video message to thank his club and Mexico for the support.
