I wouldn't say psychosis more like lack of experience and training. In critical situations you may pull the trigger several times but only if it's all new to you.
Well, looks like he did point the gun at them. Appropriate measures were taken. My thoughts are still with his family though, I'm sure this is not easy for them to accept.
