Celeb News: Ashley Tisdale Will Sing In The ‘Teen Witch’ Remake!

If there’s one thing Ashley Tisdale is good at, it’s singing, so it’s not a huge shocker that she plans on utilizing her pipes in the upcoming Teen Witch remake.

“In the original, you know, Robin Lively didn’t sing at all, even though other girls performed. But the studio said ‘Hey, you’re a singer, right?’” the High School Musical starlet confirmed to HollywoodLife.com at Burberry’s digital 3-D Autumn/Winter 2010 show in Los Angeles Feb. 23. “They reworked the script so it can be more of a musical,” she additionally revealed.

Though the script will be reworked, we’ll still find Ashley, 24, portraying shy high school wallflower Louise, who learns she’s a descendant of the infamous Salem witches. She then uses her powers for good over evil – namely, in high school world – to make herself popular and get the guy she wants.

But will the film still possess the silly, campy vibe that made us love the original cult hit so much? Ashley says yes – and that her version will definitely please a new generation. “The plan is to start filming at the end of the year, so you can expect it will be a lot more modern than the original,” she told us.

We can’t wait! And frankly, neither can she. “I’m really excited about it. I think it’s going to be so much fun!” she exclaimed, adding, “Fans of the original will love it I think, and as far as it being different, I can tell you it will be a lot more current.”

I'm not very familiar with the site so I don't know how reliable it is but I like this movie for Ashley more than 'Teen Witch' & whatever happened to 'Sleepless Beauty' ... wasn't she supposed to start filming it this month?

I think the opposite, that's what Ashley is known for and she does great in Musicals. We can't really say she's an established artist so she needs to keep making a name for herself.

I love Ashley but she needs to make a movie or CD that will be a surefire hit
Hopefully Teen Witch will be this for her, and maybe a hit song from the soundtrack?

AMAZING! But the end of the year? That means we won't see the movie til at least fall of '11, when she's 26. I hope she at least comes out with a new album at the end of this year. I've been craving some new music from her!

It was already bad enough without it being a musical.

I wouldn't mind her doing another musical if it was one aimed at adults but this one is not. If she doesn't start picking better projects, I fear that she is going to become one of the tween/teen/Disney stars that fail to make the transition to an adult career.

The Christmas movie sounds a little better but most holiday movies are cheesy and they get bad reviews. But I'm excited to see her playing an adult. It will be interesting to see who else they cast in this movie. Apparently there are 8 friends getting together, so I'm wondering if they are going to go with anymore 'well-known' actors/actresses? I'm thinking this movie is a go since the actual producer (who works at moviehole too) gave the exclusive.

Yeah, it's more mature.

By the time the film comes out, Asley would be like 10 years older than who she plays.

And a musical?

She really needs to step it up because people still look at her as Sharpay.

I'm hoping there's more movies that she'll be filming in before or in the between those two rumored projects.

She betta get more serious roles because I can't see her transitioning into a successful adult star if she keeps up with those type of movies.

She won't stay out of teeny music and musicals at least until she's 30, I know it. :/

But as long it's a hit, I'm fine with everything new, just if she's in the spotlight!!!

^that would be fine if she wasn't as famous as she is...

for example Scott Porter is 30 and he played a senior in Bandslam and on the tv show Friday Night Lights but since he is not very well known he gets away with it...

People on the other hand know who Ashley is because of Disney and people outside of Disney know about her because of the HSM movies. If they see her only doing tween/teen movies in 5 years knowing how old she was when she did the first HSM movie, she might have a career but she will not be relevant. She needs to start making her transition now. She needs to start letting her fans grow with her instead trying to get more new fans that are little kids. If she keeps going for the tweens, she is going to lose some of her older fans.
