Those aren't really replacements though. iMessage uses your phone number or Apple ID so that other iOS devices can automatically iMessage you. There's no need for a separate app or creating an account or making sure the people you talk to have those apps.
I guess those apps are cute if you're a teen/young 20 something but nobody has time to play "hey what messaging app you got?" as an adult.
