Yeah she was huge in the UK for a few years, her debut album is the 5th best selling female album of all time in the UK. It's 10 times platinum.

She actually believe it or not has the most Top 5 hits by a British Female Solo Artist with 9 to her name.

She still tours the UK and releases albums, though with each album release she has sold considerably less than before (her last sold dreadfully) and her tours have went from the huge arenas to the smaller venues (3000 to about 5000 capacities), so she has been on a steep decline ever since Spirit sadly.

But her career is nothing to be sniffed at, its just a shame that she never had a great label or smart management in those early years to help advance her and keep her at the top.

And there's more to being a pop star than just having a pretty voice. Leona doesn't transcend that, like at all. The only reason, imo, that she saw success in 2008 was because she was a new face on the block. She had no stay power. Nothing about her set her apart from the other pretty faces that were around during that time. I think that's why a lot of acts like her (Leona, Duffy, Nikka Costa, etc) all faded away because they weren't unique and had no staying power.
