In spite of his numerous gaffes, Trump is polling close to Clinton. Following weeks where polls put him as far as 10% down, he now only trails Hillary Clinton by 5% in the Real Clear Politics average.
Some argue that the race is even closer than that.
Recent media reports have explored the possibility that voters are unwilling to admit their support for Trump in polls. This certainly appeared to be the case in the primaries, with Trump consistently outperforming his poll numbers across the country.
Perhaps, as the signs commonly spotted at his rallies proclaim, the silent majority really does stand with Trump.
That majority could be getting louder following a Tuesday statement by FBI Director James Comey in which he did not recommended charges be brought against Clinton for her use of private email servers during her time as Secretary of State. Director Comey spent the majority of his statement laying out what seemed to be a strong case to indict Clinton, but pivoted at the last minute, decrying her actions as careless but not criminal.
He literally gave a rambling speech today and I legit was cackling at his random thoughts and impressions. This man is a literal clown and Hillary will literally demolish him in the general.
y'all know this is false. Poll agency's love to say it's 'close' because they make BANK out of that, keeping the people demanding new polls... Trump is ahead by far, the polls will start to show the real numbers towards october.
Yeah, yeah. Every election is "super close." We go through this every
election year. How "close" the candidates are. Meanwhile...

It's still way too early for any of these poll numbers to mean anything in regards to the general election. I mean, we haven't even had a debate yet. The numbers they report are going to be constantly in flux to some degree just to get clicks/hits. Until the two of them have to actually start interacting with each other face-to-face in the same room for two hours in front of the whole country, the numbers mean almost next to nothing. And I'm not singling out this specific poll. I'm referring to pretty much all polls in general at this stage in time.
Hillary is in a better position with the electoral map. Hillary has consistently been ahead of Trump this whole election cycle. She's fine.
We haven't gotten to Bernie's endorsement, Obama and Biden campaigning, the VP pick, the convention, etc. And now the FBI mess is behind her, and Trump still has hundreds of lawsuits against him for Trump U.
