As we get older in life, do you believe we truly grow into a place of maturity? Or do we just get more responsibility and privilege?

Babies and children are taught how to function in society, and things that they SHOULDN'T do. When they act out, we expect it, because they're just kids and they're still learning.

At adulthood, we can legally do a lot of things we couldn't do as kids, and hold a lot more responsibility in society. But just like children, there are adults that break or test the law (authority), get in fights, bully, form cliques, etc.

When we're kids, adults will say that they'll grow out of it, but yet it seems as though it's a lifelong cycle. We even revert back to habits of toddlers as we grow into elders.

What do you think?

No, they only grow fat.

I can't speak for others but for me, I've definitely matured and am a completely diff. person compared to who I was in high school/college.

But I think people "grow up" at different stages in life - for some it's 18 for others it's 25 or 35. Or never.

most people are very stubborn (like my father) and adults tend to have traits of their childhood attached to them, even if those traits are good or bad.

To some extent definitely. My experience of people in secondary school versus university is night and day. Even I was partially trash as a teen.

Not everyone grows up though.

I think this is probably true. Some of my friends have already gone the domestic route and settled down with someone with their life all put together, others (not my friends, but people my age) are getting arrested or sitting around doing nothing about figuring out their life. Maybe that's why people of all ages are asked what they want to be when they grow up.

Some people do, those are the ones that don't carry on with their childish behavior well into adulthood. I've never met an elderly person that behaves like a toddler, do you mean the ones that have dementia? That isn't the same thing.

Some elders have to be fed, bathed, can no longer walk, don't have teeth, can't remember things...It's for different reasons because at a time most were able to do those things, but it's still weird to think about how it circles around.
