I have honestly been super upset when they were focusing on sequels after Wall-E. They'd had such a good streak with original films. I'm still upset with Cars 2 and MU, because I felt they were unnecessary. What I had always loved about PIXAR is how I felt so engaged into their world. I can't wait for all these sequels to be out of the way to finally see all the new original content. I'm sure they've been trying to low-key profit off the momentum some of the sequels predecessors had before.
Good, that means no Cars 4. Though they're allowed to have one cash-cow.
The only one who needs a sequel (that's not already on schedule) is Inside Out and it just came out last year. I wouldn't mind waiting 13 years if we get a masterpiece like Dory
Pretty much. It must have been in preproduction for the last two years or so.
It's about 5 years for a company to produce an animated film. It literally takes that long to create concept on a storyboard (by hand usually; on tablets these days is the norm now that tech is easier to come by for visual artists) to animate frame by frame (which can take weeks to complete a minute of animation in some cases) etc.
This is for the best, I'm getting sequel'd out in general. I'm excited to see more original productions from Pixar again, they set the bar really high for themselves.
They are ******** out Cars and Toy Story movies like they ate a bad taco but aren't even bothered about releasing Incredibles 2, the one sequel everyone ACTUALLY wants.
Omg I NEED The Incredibles 2 in my life. I used to show my class new The Incredibles merchandise every time at Show n Tell for a whole year when I was in Kindergarten.
