I think therein lies the problem though. A lot of white gays don't WANT to join forces with lgbt poc. The same people who shout "no rice, no spice, no chocolate" and call it "preference, not racism" are the ones sitting in the majority. Why would they want to highlight poc LGBTs? That mentality is even quite visible in the other thread that got closed.
As extra as this is on BLM's part (and mind you this is only ONE branch of BLM, in Toronto. It doesn't represent the actions of every branch), they are bringing up a great point. One that desperately needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, it will just get buried under the "angry black people protest and shut down gay pride parade" narrative as usual.

This. I don't see the mainstream media portraying this as anything other than "mean black people bully gays". I wonder if these protesters realized that as well intentioned as this was, this might prove to be counterproductive in the long run by making people more hostile towards BLM. I mean, we get **** on for protesting trigger-happy white cops (who aren't even an oppressed minority, instead they're an over-privileged group who abuse the insane amounts of power they're granted), there's no way they could've thought this would be met with a positive reaction.
And yet if they passively and quietly demanded representation, no one would listen or care. So it's really a no-win situation.
