-If you like a song, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a hit with the GP and didn't become one because of a lack of promo, radio, good music video etc. That might be the case for some songs but the GP's taste doesn't perfectly correlate with ATRL's taste.
-Not every hit song from the past is a "iconic classic".
-I know it's fun to laugh at artists underperforming but friendly reminder that a lot of these people are rich, famous and living comfortably. Lady Gaga may not be as relevant as she was 6 years ago but she still has millions. Also, the fact that anyone was able to make it to the top (given the odds) is a huge accomplishment on its own.
-I know she's popular here but I can't stand Britney Spears' voice.
-Emotion's a great pop album but I kinda hate Carly's lyricism. So saccharine.
-I kinda wish Luke and Max were still collaborating. Also, I don't think it's fair to definitively dismiss him as a rapist when he's never been found guilty of anything.
-If you can google something and find an answer within 5 seconds or if a question would be better answered by experts online, there's no reason to make a thread in "The Lounge" about it. Just search it up yourself.
-It's so annoying when people complain about the "new" artists". Like Katy, Taylor, Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna, the Justins, Bruno, Drake are still big. We don't need new pop stars yet, there's not much room for them and I don't think their music is that terrible either. Ariana and Lorde have good discographies. And it's not because these "new" artists aren't hardworking either. Plenty of aspiring stars are hardworking; it's mostly about luck anyway.
-I'm not sure why people say Rihanna's last album was a flop. It had a huge #1 single and the album seems to be doing really well on streaming.
-So what if "Hello" is Adele's only big #1 single? It was still huge and the album sold extremely well and she's very well respected by most people. And maybe it's good news for her in the end because less people will grow tired of her by the end of this era.
-Maybe not unpopular here but seriously, Beyonce has earned the respect she has. Her last three albums have been experimental and interesting and she actually does take risks (not going after hit singles, surprise release, exposing her husband, etc.).
-The GP might love him but I don't really find Drake that interesting as an artist. Views was "meh".
-Again not too unpopular here but I hate when GP members dismiss Kanye because of his media persona and antics. He has a amazing discography and him dissing Taylor Swift doesn't change that.
-Male artists deserve more credit and recognition here. This is more of a "female music" forum than a "pop forum" in some ways.
-There's no such thing as "overrated". If a lot of people like something, then they do. No reason to hate on something just because people like it and you don't. Subjective opinions don't have to be the same but be willing to respect that people do like it.
-Metacritic and the opinions of so-called "critics" is not some absolute truth. These people are no different than me and you and have their biases. Using "critics" to show how great an album is makes no sense. So what if some people like or dislike an album? That doesn't mean everyone has to agree.
-It's 2016. Stop complaining about streaming already. It's not "free" streaming; SEA units are literally equivalent to the revenue that would be generated by those many unit sales.
