The answer is... no.
A year ago, I would've said yes.
Here's a line distribution videos showing how large K-pop groups manage to have so many members who each get a chance to shine individually.
For example, in this song, 5 of the 8 members sing longer than Ally (17.5), Normani (17.3) and Dinah (18.4) do in Work From Home, despite having more members.
Not at all. Line distribution can be easy if the effort is to include all of the members. Alternating lines or setting it 2-3 lines per person, with alternating pre-hooks and all on the chorus is the way to go.
SNSD/Girls Generation is a great example of how it should be done. I said a few months ago that I don't understand how 9 girls in a group can have great line distribution, but groups of 3-5 can't seem to get it together.
I wonder about this too.
If you look at a group like 5H, the line distribution for their last single was this:
#1 Lauren: 77.7 seconds
#2 Camila: 48.4 seconds
#3 Dinah: 18.4 seconds
#4 Ally: 17.5 seconds
#5 Normani: 17.3 seconds
If you compare that to Catch Me If You Can, even the members with the lowest times sing as much as Ally, Normani and Dinah.
