We are in a period of World Peace. In fact since the Vietnam War this is the longest period of human peace. Sure we have civil strife, but they aren't world wars on the scale of previous wars. In fact, the only civil strife since then have been countries trying to create democratic systems. The biggest threat to world peace is non-democratic countries.
Also, democratic countries don't go to war with each other. Meaning, if we have a more educated class, we can end civil strife. Immigrants tend to come to wealthy countries, work hard and send money to loved ones at home. Many in fact go back when they have enough money. This allows people to get food and education. If we allow all poor people access to food, internet, and all basic human rights we can make a better world with little political instability.
The Obama administration has deported MORE illegal immigrants than any other administration before it. 
What we need is sensible immigration reform which is what the LEFT wants.
