The fact that Miley only had three singles (basically only 2 promoted ones) and still outsold Ariana with 5 singles and went platinum with pure sales says it all.

Where?
Worldwide:
We Can't Stop (5,300,000) + Wrecking Ball (6,200,000) + Adore You (1,500,000) = 13,000,000
Problem (7,500,000) + Break Free (3,600,000) + Bang Bang (6,330,000) + Love Me Harder (2,050,000) + One Last Time (1,800,000) = 21,280,000
US:
We Can't Stop (3,350,000) + Wrecking Ball (3,800,000) + Adore You (1,200,000) = 7,350,000
Problem (3,500,000) + Break Free (1,800,000) + Bang Bang (3,264,000) + Love Me Harder (1,200,000) + One Last Time (772,000) = 10,536,000
Also, One Last Time wasn't promoted either, and even though it was a fifth single, it still went top fifteen unlike Adore You and outsold it worldwide.
Bangerz may be platinum in pure sales, but it barely outsold My Everything worldwide. My Everything will eventually catch up (it's still top 250 on WW iTunes and often top 100) despite being released in a worse sales climate. Also, My Everything has way more Spotify streams than Bangerz (1,800,000 compared to 765,000).
