Don't get me wrong. I'm all for standing up for injustice in the community and I also happen to be black. However I find the whole cultural appropriation trend to be considerably worrying and like literally has all the ingredients for a segregation 2.0 if we leave it for too long

I know that JT's recent tweets was problematic and ignorant, but the way people started to bandwagon attack him in such an aggressive manner just distracts from the overall message and impression that we want to give other races about black lives and what it means in America. I know that the black (as well as other minorities) community has gone through a whole lot in this country and sometimes want to vent, but aggression in such a manner can be a turn-off to anyone who is trying to understand and be educated. What happened to all the peaceful protests and marches like those from the civil rights era?

It's like every day you're bound to appropriate from one culture or another, which is why I find this bs so stupid. If it's about music, then what's stopping the SJWS from taking it to another aspect, like food? When I go to Taco Bell, guess what I'm doing? But I love me some darn spicy burritos and I'm not stopping anytime soon. I also like Pizza Pizza and I'm not giving that up either. And whoo..don't even get me started on Asian takeout cause you'd have to put me out to stop me lool...

It's like people will start to slowly being hesitant to trying anything that is outside their culture and will only feel comfortable being among those from their own culture. And then segregation 2.0..(I lowkey hope I'm not jinxing anything).

Does anyone else share this same concern?

I just ignore them. You do you, fam. You know how much of lgbt culture is "appropriated" by the straights? Yet we don't care. They can keep using our language saying words like shade + stealing our culture (a la vogue) and we don't complain because we're more mature. People just want something to complain about.

Well if we want to get really specific most of lgbt culture came from black/latin trans people (and I happen to be a latin trans woman) but for our community it doesn't matter your race. If you're lgbt you're family. We speak the same language and we've fought the same battles so it doesn't matter your race or if you're L or G or B or T, you can stand next to me.

I know the segregation part may have been a bit much but I didn't mean it in the sense that we'd start having "White only" "Black only" facilities pop back up. I mean it in a sense that people of different races and cultures can still be living together but would prefer to converse with their own kind and be put in little "cultural boxes" just to avoid any criticism or tensions.

Also, how do we know how many people out there think like these SJW trolls on twitter? And how can we be sure how many potential allies are turned-off by all this aggression shown by these SJWs? This is quite a concerning topic and I have every right to be concerned (although I'm not exactly losing sleep over this).

I think you guys are misunderstanding the OP because I wanted to address two things in different ways. I thought I'd add another angle to the cultural appropriation mess and ask where the limit to that is. Does it just end in music or should we take it to every aspect of culture as well?

I think I'm more concerned that ignorant people (and there are a lot out there) have already and will paint anyone who fights for any type of social justice with the same brush as extremist SJWs. I mean what can you do? A lot of people don't take the time to really listen to certain topics and they settle with all these bogus conclusions fed to them by equally (if not more ignorant) family and friends. I guess what I neglected to highlight is that we all need to find ways to totally differentiate ourselves with these SJWs
