Bad Romance wasn't even available on the sites counting for streaming, meanwhile it was getting millions of hits on youtube and the video was clearly relevant, talked about, streamed by the bucket load etc.

1,000 copies sold (downloads and physical if any) = 1 million Audience Impressions = 55,000 streams

1,000 copies = 1 point
1 million Audience Impressions = 1 point
55,000 streams = 1 point

So, EXAMPLE:
TiK ToK had 130 million audience impressions last Wed, so it had 130 points, supposing it sold 150,000 copies, it's more 150 points and supposing it had 110,000 streams, it's more 2 points....


and TiK ToK never went #1 based on the streams, every week it had at #1, it had at least a decent points lead on the runner-ups (#2 and #3), there was only one week that it stayed above Bad Romance cause of stream, and it was #2 not #1.... Anyway, to me, any song that becomes the best-selling of a week deserve to be number one...

Well, that's the labels fault for not letting it be available, and even if it was, "TiK ToK" still would've been higher on streaming than "Bad Romance." Older songs are always higher on streaming for no reason at all. It's also not an injustice if "TiK ToK" had those points and "Bad Romance" didn't. "TiK ToK" deserved #1 then, just as much as it deserves it now. It has the top # of points.

People need to stop being so pissy. The song is a smash hit, DEAL WITH IT or stop listening to music.

Yes it's the labels fault but the song shouldn't of suffered. I was more poking holes in billboards formula than being pissy, I mean 120mill youtube views for a song that peaked at like 55 on the streaming chart? smh

^There's no good way to get YouTube statistics, especially since the same video can have 100+ uploads. Whereas AOL, Yahoo!, and others only have 1 video per song, and the tracking data is much easier to get. Maybe eventually we can get YouTube plays, but for now, if you want to help a song on streaming, do AOL or Yahoo! or something like that.

I'd love for them to incorporate Last.fm plays too. They do have data for U.S. only members.

With the addition of vevo it should be easy, just track the vevo views and then labels can get the rest removed.

And youtube can tell the country a view came from, hence the "where is this video most popular?" maps.

Putting Vevo on YouTube was a smart idea... that's what everyone views to see EVERYTHING thesedays.
