Labour Leadership Contest Imminent
Angela Eagle is challenging Corbyn for the Labour leadership and will likely announce today.

If Corbyn needs to get nominations to stand again then he might not even be able to, since he'll need 50. Angela already has the support needed to stand.

However, legal opinion is divided: some say Corbyn is entitled to stand again automatically because he is the incumbent. However, the last time an incumbent was challenged (Kinnock by Benn), the incumbent had to get the nominations necessary.

So we'll see.

Despite having supported Jeremy last year and largely through his leadership, deep down I know he hasn't been good for the party. I will support any leadership challenger who is more likely to win in 2020 (or earlier).

I'm so torn because I am not here for return of the Blairites, but we do need effective opposition right now and if the party keeps undermining Jeremy then what hope does he have? Let's see how well he holds it together.

Tbh in this post-fact world I think the best hope, if Jeremy has to go, is to choose someone really hot. The public is more likely to vote for sex appeal than good government these days
