I think it was though. She was super enthusiastic about it when it came out, more than her albums with The Scene. She would talk about every song, and exactly how she wanted them to sound etc in interviews about the album.
Plus the HWWIW is more Stars Dance than Revival.

I think between 2014 - 15 though is when she wanted to go more urban and Hollywood probably wouldn't have allowed it.

I'm excited. Seems like it'll be more upbeat and happy.

When The Sun Goes Down is much better than the Melondyned Revival. Half the time I can hear more processing in her voice than actual voice.

WTSGD had some misses but as a whole, was a major risk for her. Going with a very 80's sound vs Urban Pop, was much more experiential.

It's very basic, and nearly every teen pop star goes through an urbanish faze (Christina, Britney, Ariana, Justin (both) etc). If anything she's not taking risks at all and just doing what everyone else is doing.

SOL is probably the biggest risk she's taken this era, and even that was tame.

This is coming from a Lady Gaga fan who's 2 last albums are btw and artpop omg...

She'll have time off tour in August and November, means if she releases the single in August, she can perform it at the VMAs to give it a big start push and then give it a last push at the AMAs in November and maybe do a medley with the 2nd single there, album in March 2017.

She has said before that Hollywood Records wouldn't allow her to do what she wanted, she did whatever they wanted her to do. Then she finally went with Interscope and she released Revival. That was the first album she could be real, so she considers it her "first" album.
