Top many to name and those albums in the op didn't come to mind first.
It's no big loss when you realize some of the well known albums with high acclaim are more remembered and/or influential than whatever album won that year.
Some of the albums being mentionned here... absolute pop mainstream trash. To respond to the OP : My beautiful dark twisted fantasy and trilogy. Channel Orange deserved to win.
