If she had done that Billboards performance back in 2008, her career would be very different rn.

Its crazy to think that back then she and Bey were on equal levels (Circus actually debuting with higher than IASF I believe, and they were the two biggest females that year) but their careers went in two different directions in the eras after. I won't deny that Britney is iconic but her half-assing her last 2 eras kinda put a damper on her brand.

Hopefully her new era will reignite something but its been almost 10 years since her "comeback" and with all these new young girls out, its much harder for her to compete.

No. Some people have done some pretty f*cked up things, way beyond anything Britney has ever done, as far as tarnishing their image and they're still seen as legends. It's part of the package.

Anyway, keep in mind normal people are not as fixated on popstars as we are. So most people don't care she's half assed part of her 2011 era but they probably remember hearing her songs all over the radio, all around the world. They also don't care that her last album was a huge flop. The last image they probably have of her, right now, is her being applauded by every media outlets for her BBMA performance last month. She's in a much better place than you think she is and has proven to be spontaneously loved by the public (not many can say that, really), for many reasons including her talents (yes, no joke), humble persona, charisma and dozens of songs that defined the 00s generation.

The only people who get mad about Britney being called a legend are Beyonce fans and I'm not sure why because if our fave isn't a legend, then your's ain't, so y'all ain't experts on the subject matter so find yourself a seat somewhere. Bless.
