TV: What can fans expect next for your music?
SC: I’m working on my debut album now. I’ve been in the studio with amazing writers and collaborating with producers. I’ve also been promoting “Love Is the Name,” so they can see me performing around the country.
TV: What about your debut album are you most excited about?
SC:"I am excited" is an understatement for how I excited I am to share my music with the world. I have been writing since I was 10 years old and dreaming of this moment since I could remember. Just to share my music and to tell my story and to release songs that are so genuinely me with the world, I’m very excited for. It’s been my dream that when I release my music, people can feel like they’re hearing their own story. These are stories that come from the bottom of my heart so to know that people can relate to them would mean the world [to] me.
TV: How has your culture influenced the way you make music?
SC: I was born in Florida and raised in Miami, which is a global, multicultural city, so I was raised around different kinds of music and different cultures. That really inspired the sound that I want my music to have. That’s been a big part of the creation process.
TV: Are you planning on ever releasing a song in Spanish?
SC: Possibly. I’ve been writing since I was 10 years old and I have written in Spanish in the past, so I don’t see why not.
TV: What artists have influenced your music?
SC: Growing up, I’ve always loved “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley. It’s my favorite song in the world. That song has definitely been an influence on me. And, I would say, “Yesterday” from the Beatles. I love all kinds of music, but I’m kind of an old soul.
TV: Which artists would you like to collaborate with most?
SC: So many. Top three, I would to write a song with Ed Sheeran because I love the way that he tells stories and I’ve always wanted my music to tell stories. I would say Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake because they’re just killer performers and I would love to be on stage with them.
