Can someone fill me in on this situation. I only barely know the basics. I have questions.
1. Why is it so awful for the UK to want to exit the EU? How are they saying it will affect the UK in the short term and long term? How are they saying it will affect the EU in the short term and long term?
1a. Is there a pro to leaving the EU? What are they? Is there a con? What are they?
2. I keep reading that "young people voted to stay" and "old people voted to exit." Were there more old people voting than young people? If there was such an allegedly "overwhelming response" to stay from the younger generation, why didn't they vote? I find it hard to believe that a bunch of old, dying people could overpower younger voters when they can't get anywhere without a colostomy bag. Or is this one of those 2004 George Bush for President scenarios where it didn't really matter how anyone voted, the decision was already made.
2b. I also keep reading that racism and bigotry was a cause in the vote to exit. Is this accurate? If true, how was racism and bigotry used as a driving force? What was some of the propoganda? What is the exit supposed to "prevent"?
I have more questions, but I'll see how those few go.
