La banda se encuentra trabajando en lo que será el álbum sucesor del disco del 2006 llamado Stadium Arcadium y han revelado que el nuevo material podría lanzarse en Octubre del 2010.

Cuando se le preguntó a Chad Smith si la participación entre el bajista de los Chili Peppers, Flea y el cantante de Radiohead, Thom Yorke podría afectar el nuevo material de la banda, Smith comentó que el bajista le ha orfecido un Cd con electronic beats para inspirarlo pero que por el momento no hay una dirección electrónica.
