Ya es oficial: el músico y productor Josh Klinghoffer será el nuevo miembro de los Red Hot Chili Peppers que, por segunda vez en su historia, vivieron la partida del guitarrista John Frusciante. Aquella primera vez, después de Blood Sugar Sex Magic (1991), Dave Navarro fue quien tomó la posta para grabar One Hot Minute; sin embargo, debido a que Navarro se encuentra participando de la reunión de Jane´s Addiction, los rumores de que sería él quien reemplazara nuevamente a Frusciante fueron rápidamente desmentidos.
Al parecer, Frusciante dejó la banda de manera pacífica, sin escándalos de por medio hace más de un año; el hecho salió a la luz ahora, cuando los Peppers entraron al estudio sin él para grabar lo que será el sucesor Stadium Arcadium. Klinghoffer, que comparte con Frusciante la formación de Ataxia (como baterista), ya se había sumado a la gira de presentación de aquel último disco en 2007 pero como guitarrista secundario y fue parte de las bandas de PJ Harvey, Gnarls Barkley y Beck, entre muchos otros. Hace más de siete años que los Red Hot no pisan suelo argento, ¿lo harán con esta nueva formación?
Red Hot Chili Peppers have made their first public performance with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
The band, featuring their new addition, covered Neil Young's 'A Man Needs A Maid' at the 2010 MusiCares Person Of The Year event in Los Angeles on January 29.

Klinghoffer has reportedly replaced John Frusciante full-time in the band, although no official announcement has been made regarding his appointment.
