I'm not comparing to the original theme songs. In fact, I'm not even familiar with any of the theme songs that might exist for these titles, bar Titanic.
Also I'd
really dissuade contestants from trying to do a Safe and Sound/See You Again/MHWGO-esque song for your movie/ie go the "pop star sings a song for a blockbuster that also doubles as a commercial single" route. Not because the originals can't be matched up to, but because personally I don't think they're very good/effective songs. The best soundtrack music accents the movie and is consumed with its visuals, it can't be disseminated through the radio to the same effect. So yeah, heads up that writing a song in classic pop song structure might not be the only choice.
