No. It did seem a bit questionable to some though because the whole album was dedicated around black women and black issues but before that, Beyonce used to want to be a Latina, lightening her skin colour, blonde weaves etc. So it came across as her jumping on the BLM movement to sell records rather than her being actually concerned about the matter.
She has helped the families of the victims who lost their lives to police brutality and also Trayvon Martin though.
She just did what she wanted, the album doesn't have a song that was made for radio.
But this is pretty much Bey's albums post-4. Most of her albums have non-singleworthy tracks apart from one or two (Hold Up, XO) so it's not exactly a new thing for her.
Hold Up seems to be the only song from the album which is smashing and being played on radio regularly (here in the UK).
Of course it is, wtf Compared to even 4 & BEYONCE, majority of the songs aren't as instant and this is probably her most toned down album ever, sonically. She put the album up on TIDAL for 48 hours and won't put any MVs up on YouTube or singles on Spotify and no televised performance 2 months in yet alone acknowledge its release and success. If that's not "risky", then idk what is. Anybody else would bomb under these circumstances.
