because you know all of their parents, i guess...? i know my parents don't care at all.

anyways, i think if someone still has some natural resistance to gay people because of their upbringing but are trying to fight it and become more tolerant, then i could still be their friend. but otherwise yes, they are homophobic, and i doubt they'll be capable of treating me with any respect if they "disagree" with my existence anyway, so why should i make myself suffer just to tolerate them?

and honestly, if they don't understand that homosexuality is natural by now, they're just ignorant and i feel like they'd be ignorant on other things, too, so it sounds like being their friend would be irritating.

Did you even read the thread and the poll before churning this out or did you just want to be #edgy? We're not talking about "people we don't even know". We're talking about friends / potential friends.

Besides, anyone who dismisses homosexuality, whether it's in the form of a "disagreement" or in the form of violent opposition and hatred, is a homophobe. That's not seeking for approval. It's just knowing the definition of homophobia

Some of you need to love yourselves. Just because someone isn't shouting ****** at you and threatening to beat you, but instead merely tolerates you and tries to pretend they have no idea you're gay/bi doesn't mean they're not homophobic. Sure it's a passive, non-confrontational type of homophobia, but it's still homophobia nonetheless.
Tolerance=/=Acceptance.

They're not homophobic and I still would be friends with them as long as they're not telling me how it is wrong 24/7. It's kind of like if you're a meat-eater and your friend is vegan, no?

Yes, someone who tolerates homosexuals instead of accepting them is still homophobic. It's like a white person saying 'I wouldn't mind having a black friend, as long as he/she doesn't act black.'

I loathe 'but I don't agree with the lifestyle' when people claim they are okay with gay people. It's condescending and homophobic. It typically comes from religious people who lack self awareness.

I voted "Its not homophobic and I would be their friend." I think if someone is saying that they disagree with homosexuality (which i agree with the majority, you can't "disagree" with sexuality) but they can accept that is how you want to live and continue a friendship with you then I don't see that as being homophobic. I think if people are still able to talk to you, treat you with respect and ultimately accept that you are who you are then there is nothing homophobic about that. As far as being friends with homophobic or disapproving people, I try not to let views interrupt friendships.

But, I will also say that if the majority of the LGBT community felt that a nonacceptance or disapproval was homophobic then I would agree.
