Cher doesn't care. She's a living legend
Madonna does care but she's dealing with ageism and her singles have been subpar in the last 2 eras.
Avril has an outdated sound and image
Britney's hit power remains to be seen. She was doing fine until 2012, but BJ was a bad album and PG was a bad single choice. Let's wait for Make Me
My girl needs to re-build her relationship with radio and she's also known for bad single choices and short eras
Nelly F took a long break and lost her Loose buzz and then came back with the wrong singles
Britney's music isn't as good as it used to be. The Top 40 peaks were from fans but they quickly died.
As for Avril, Here's To Never Growing Up did go Top 20, and while it is a good bop, it doesn't age well. I was 19 when the song came out, and I played it a good bit during that year, but now I rarely play it. The sad part is, Avril actually had TWO good singles following it, but they flopped because the lead single (and Epic's terrible management at the time) killed the momentum.
Xtina didn't really promote Your Body, but her features were big hits worldwide so it's not like she can't get hits. She just needs to focus on her solo promotion more.
Cher...well...she was 52 when Believe came out...and she was in her 60s when she released her last album...it's not like she needs to have successful songs at this point
Madonna had two good singles this past era...but unfortunately the only time anyone paid attention was when she released the try-hard Bitch I'm Madonna video
Nelly F waited too long - she had all the momentum in the world following Loose, but she wasted it.
I don't think its necessarily an age thing but more the fact that most of them took breaks for too long and lost the buzz about them. Plus a lot of them came back with subpar music so
