Are they trying to start gamergate again or what. Like the overwhelming majority of gamers worldwide are either white guys or asian guys that's just a reality. Some more diversity would be nice but not to the point where it doesn't accurately represent the player base

Yeah, this reads like a bad tumblr blog post. I really don't care who makes or acts as spokesmen for the game, as long as no systemic discrimination can be proven. I do agree that representation in games can be improved upon, but nitpicking over things like this just weakens our cause.

Video games is pretty much white culture. Of course its going to be overran by them. Doesn't mean its this bigoted hellhole where minorities don't have a voice. I feel like people complaining aren't even true gamers anyways. They're always white and blue? Metal Gear Solid is one of the most critically acclaimed series and it has always had characters from different ethnicities and nationalities. (inb4 "the protagonist is still a white old man" )

Games with minorities do not sell as well as games that reflect the audience. Most gamers are white males, therefore the games reflect that as we are more likely to be entrigued by media that reflects us.

If you want games with minorities you should support games like Mirror's Edge and Remember Me, but again these all flopped.

Gamergate does not represent the majority of the community. I doubt it even represents 1%.

Really? We're calling E3 misogynistic and racist now? E3 is just a reflection of the gaming industry as a whole (and moreover, the tech field on a wider scale, which everyone knows is majority white male dominated). The problem is less about white men dominating the conversation and more about a lack of minorities and women working in the gaming/tech industry. Obviously, there are minorities and women who do great work in the gaming field but they are still small when it comes to numbers.

I'm not saying the lack of representation isn't an issue. It is. But if we really want to solve this issue, we need to target young women and poc in school, during the early stages. Get more of them interested in game development and the like so that more of them will join that field in the future. The problem of E3's majority white male faces is not going to be solved by simply calling them racist for not making black people and women speak at conferences. We need to show the gaming industry that we WANT games with minority and women leads. Go BUY Mirror's Edge. Go BUY Shantae and show them that us minorities and women WANT to play games with people like us. Speak with your pockets like all these white men do with their Call of Duties and their Battlefields.

And for what it's worth, there have been more female-led games coming out lately. One of the most promising to come out of this year's E3 is probably Horizon: Zero Dawn.

In that sense, videogames do better than most other mediums. It's pretty equal. A lot of the project leads found within AAA game development are female.

However, it's no coincidence that a white male dominated hobby attracts white male workers.
