No. I spent the first 23 years of my life playing solely Nintendo games because that's all I owned. Every system and handheld since the NES.
There are some great games on the N platform. They've just been lacking these last few years because they put gimmicks over gameplay and what gamers want
wyd Abyssmal? I'm a Nintendiva and I'm passionate about Zelda, Xenoblade, and various other Nintendo games/series. Nintendo attracts passionate gamers, but it also has a huge catalogue for casual gamers, and not everyone has that.
I just need to Nintendo to get their multiplayer up to date along with the dated messaging system. Wii U Feels like a gamecube and it took me awhile to figure out how to send people messages. (miiverse)
But what defines a casual game ? Games like Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, The LoZ, Smash Bros and Pokemon's competative scene are far from "casual game" experiences like Mario Party and his sport games lol.
Pokemon and Smash Bros both hold huge tournaments constantly with many players who dedicate a lot of time to it. That's anything but casual. You can even argue that Pokemon is the biggest competative gaming franchise overall!
The OP seems like he thinks only FPS are "hardcore" games. Or that it needs to be using an unreal engine to be a true "video game".

FPS are usually trash and lack substance, so no I'm not meaning those. I'm meaning stuff like immersive RPGs/MMORPGs or action games that have hours and hours of content, unique storyline, impressive voice acting, character development etc. I mean I guess Nintendo has that with Zelda and Xenoblade but that's about it.
The Wii, the DS and the other Nintendo consoles come off as pretty generic and usually have bad graphics. They're the type of consoles you can go on for a quick half an hour and then switch off. Anyone with even a limited knowledge of video games (from children to the elderly) are likely to use these consoles that's why they're so popular.
And yeah I get that some people are very passionate about Smash Bros and Pokémon but those games are very accessible and pretty much anyone can play them after a little bit of practice. Unless you're wanting to win competitions and get the best rankings you don't really need to devote loads of time to those games, like I said they're the type of games you can switch on for half an hour and then off again.
True games to me are ones you have to spend hours to get into, ones that are complex and challenging and take you on a journey. Very few Nintendo games do this.
Casuals buy iPhones and iPads. Nintendo still caters to some children though. They were a toy company after all. Hardcore fans buy Nintendo systems. The rest of the world buys Sony systems
lol no, seeing as there's barely any 3rd party support (whether the quality is good or bad) I can't see how it's just for casual gamers considering the fact the most of the content is Nintendo exclusive. As of now their main consumer base is made up of Core Nintendo fans and children.
I think of it more as gamers that want to play enjoyable games. Honestly Nintendo make the some of the best games, I see no reason why people don't just get a Nintendo alongside the XB1 PS4.
