Ireland's age of consent is 17.

The UK's age of consent is 16, I want it changed to 18 tbh, there's too many teen mothers here in NI and the rest of the UK.

18 is just fine, I believe it's even 16/17 in some states.

I just looked it up and it used to be 13. It's been changed to 16, which I think it's fine. It was really low here for whatever reason

Whether it's 16, 17 or 18, I would change it to one broad federal one here in the US.

It is currently set at 16 in the uk and I would change it to 13 or 14. It is unrealistic to suggest that children that age are incapable of consenting to sex (though some of course will not be), and there are surely better, more nuanced ways to distinguish between legitimate and illegitimate pressures placed on people of that age to have sex than just a blanket ban of illegality in all circumstances for all people.

I also think it is stupid that the age of consent is 16 but the age to send/receive nude photographs without it being CP is 18 - so you can see a partner naked in real life but if you look at a photograph of the same it is suddenly illegal? That makes little sense in my opinion, especially when it is easy enough to distinguish between photos sent voluntarily with consent and the damaging/malicious spreading of "revenge ****" against a person's will etc.

In my country, if an adult have sex with age 12, you won't be sued as long as that person consented.

IMO that's too young so I feel that 15 and above should be the legal age of consent in our country. I know for some people that's still too young but in our country we have a different culture and most young girls admire the older guys because they are more mature. The boys of their age can be a bit too wild and childish and if they get pregnant, they usually can't afford it cause they don't have a job yet. And unlike in USA, the minimum wage in here for the crappiest job is not great for a young couple with kids.

It's 16 here in Ohio. I think that's a fair age. 13 is for the 13-17 age bracket and anything younger than 13 is statutory rape

It's also important to educate your kids on the dangers of sex with adults.


Edit. To clarify you have to be 16 to have sex with somebody 18+ and they can't be in a position of authority over the minor. So no teachers, coaches, babysitters etc.

18 is fine but a lot of people are doing things at 16ish now so idk, I think 16 is too young but you already know right from wrong by then.
