The largest US shooting tragedy that was a direct attack that effected a minority LGBTQ community and the vigil at a history gay rights site being officiated by a white straight dude.

Despite how ****ed up I find this particular situation to be, it's good he at least tried to use the role for good.

I'm can't drag him for this, I'm dragging the organisers. The fact that they'd let a white straight man have that role over a queer person of colour is .. telling and disrespectful to say the least.

And her history of supporting LGBTQ causes can be tracked to the very start of her career where she's spoken about the community multiple times and supported its causes both monetarily and in very public political and cultural platforms. She's also incredibly informed about LGBTQ issues and has proven it in multiple interviews and talks. Her history with the community can be described in more words than 'hey I have a new album out so here's a semi nude shot lesbians, love ya lol, throw money at me. xxx'.

Sums up how I feel. Coincidentally he has an album streeting this week - this is in no way comparable to Gaga, who is bisexual and has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

While it is nice that he is showing his support, it absolutely was wrong of the organizers to have him speak.... especially given Stonewall's history with trans activists of color.... regardless of his intentions, it still comes off completely wrong.

Well as a gay poc, I appreciate having allies of all races and sexualities This "us against the world" tumblr mindset that has gained prominence in recent years is cancer, and not how any meaningful change is ever accomplished.

You guys are so dumb for bringing his album release like he planned it. He's had this album release planned since March, there was a shooting this week. This has NOTHING to do with it.

Nick has put in the ground work for his LGBT fans. He's been in gay magazines, played gay characters, performed at gay events, and gone out of his way to show support. No other male pop singer does that.
