I'm already out, but it's made me even more grateful that my family and friends are so supportive.

Congrats to those who came out! I'm glad if anything the tragedy has empowered some of us and brought a majority of the community together. I feel sad for some people who have reacted differently but it's not really worth dwelling on. Just please don't let fear rule your life. It's a question of whether you value more your freedom, or the ease of suppression.

Coming out is a deeply personal choice. I'm glad that people felt inspired by the event to come out, but it's totally fine if you still don't feel you're ready.

OT: My mom pulled out of the closet when I started to go out with a former college friend and she accidentally saw some texts pop up on my phone. Then we had tea and she told me how two of her exes are now openly gay.
