I mean the album's movement is pretty much dead and Janet is pregnant so promoting the album is not on her to do list if you ask me. Janet was speaking on social and LGBT issues before it was even "cool" to do so, so I see her as genuine. She didn't even speak out on the death of Prince of Muhammad Ali or Prince so this must of really touched her.

It's her song, so she is using her voice to speak out. Music beats hate
