Not sure how anyone grew up without hearing Nasty, Rhythm Nation, TTWLG, Together Again or All for You. Plus Feedback, Doesn't Really Matter and Someone to Call My Lover are memorable hits from this millennium
Growing up I only knew Janet as Michael's brother and had no idea she was a singer. Fast forward to now and I'm definetly a fan of some of her work. I don't think she's very global, so to speak, I'm from Portugal and I had only heard Feedback for the longest time. Thankfully I've discovered her early bodies of work.

To be honest, no. I've never heard a single song from her nor have I heard anyone mention her, I just knew her as Michael's brother. I didn't know how big her impact and career was until I came on ATRL.
I had heard of her and heard some songs (like All for You & Together Again) but I didn't know they were by her. Once I found out about her (although not from ATRL) then I did some research on the internet and that's how I discovered her music and found out that it was flawless.
Only "Scream". "Together Again" melody was familiar to me, but I didn't know it was Janet's song.
And I think I heard "Miss Jackson if you're nasty" phrase and title of "Rhythm Nation" was familiar, but that's about it.
And obviously I knew that she was MJ's sister.
But last year, I saw that she has a pretty nice following on ATRL so I decided to check her discography from beginning. I started with mixtapes and rest is the history. She's literally one of my favorite artists right now and her discography is incredible.
Off topic: Rhythm Nation > The Velvet Rope > Control > janet. > Unbreakable > Damita Jo > All for You > the rest
I knew the song she made with Michael Jackson (Scream) because I found out it was the most expensive video or something. But I suppose that doesn't really count because it's Michael Jackson's song officially.
