Vin has a valid point here. I think we have a greater split within generations than ever before. I don't believe that the racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, nationalistic, etc. kinda vitriol (as well as the pointless and insincere stuff that some people view as SJW) that some people post online would have existed in the previous generation. No no no it existed. It just wasn't as transparent as it's becoming now. So we didn't grapple with it and are dealing with the fallout now. The AIDS crisis started in the 80s and that was a time of rampant homophobia and misinformation. So did the Crack Epidemic. That last through the 90s and is faulted with causing the destabilization of the black community as well.
