Is this the time LGBTQ will finally be respected as PERSONS?
Is this the time? The amount of support they are receiving from their own country that had issues with them is incredible... If I was American I would be proud because for so much hate there is so much love to counter it, from everyone.
Is this the time for us to finally be recognized as people, not as gays/lesbians/etc. ? To finally have a voice?
They say they hate us because we look for love in the wrong ways... but is it wrong to look for love at all? Like his song says "I won't be afraid of love, love lasts forever"
I wouldn't say that the work for LGBT's acceptance is done, but I'd say most people are sympathetic about what happened, even the more conservative ones. I'm sure this is the first time for a lot of people that they've genuinely felt bad about LGBT but only because of the size of the carnage.
They are mostly supporting us because they can use this case to blame muslins for all that's wrong with the country and still feel relieved to say that weapons don't kill, unless there's a Muslim holding it.
Not until people make an effort to acknowledge that the US has a serious homophobia/transphobia/biphobia problem, that we need to be more forceful about regulating guns and that this was a hate crime against the LGBT community.

Possibly. The interesting thing is that people from the right seems to be showing more support than liberals, hmmm...
They only care about using us to hate on brown people and win elections Never forget that they're anti-gay marriage and want to make it okay to discriminate gays based on religious preference.
Honestly i don't think so, I see a lot of people completely ignoring the fact that these people were killed for being LGBT, and other people who are mad that people are using the pride flag to honor the victims. I don't know how things will ever change if we keep ignoring that homophobia is what caused this tragedy to happen.
I know! I was really happy about that. But, the right is still trying to tackle it as an ISIS/terrorism problem (which they're not mutually exclusive), but avoiding calling it a hate crime. And the same politicians that are sending condolences, supported pro-gun and anti-gay legislation. That's mostly what I'm referring to.
Additionally, Hillary Clinton missed the opportunity to call it that and made a statement in which she sought to correct President Obama by calling it terrorism and at no point called it a hate crime. Which was very unfortunate.
Please, the people that already cared about gays are the only ones speaking up. You still have the homophobes praising it. Right wingers using it to fuel their own political agendas. Typical hertrosexual men making fun of the situatoin for RTs.
The conversations i've had with people these past few days have been disappointing. Nothing compared to the Paris attack, or the Newton school attack.
i feel like one of the reasons gay people are less respected is because we typically do not have children nor raise families. While straights go off to form families and worry about school, the next generation, etc, I know so many gay people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are still doing the club scene as if they were 20.
