The funny thing is, if synchro is really a thing it'll probably be a palette swap of mega evolution, a la primal evolution. Or something obscure that you need a pokemon amie-like mechanic to reach.

That's my only problem with it, since this is the most logical to happen. It feels odd to have a major mechanism that has not even reached it full potential and can be seen as flawed in some aspects, to get an alternate version so soon. Primal was okay, I guess and felt like an extra gimmick. But as we also saw in the Delta Episode with Rayquaza, they easily could alter it in some minor ways and still call it the same name.
I'm kind of glad they're making moves to flesh out the concept of "evolution", as it's so centric to the entire concept of Pokemon. They've made effort to explore this in their lore in X&Y & the Delta Episode, I'm interested to see how they're going to tie it all up in SuMo. It makes for a somewhat more intricate gameplay, I just hope the NPC are made powerful enough to actually face off a mega/sync evo because as it stands, it's way too easy.
